Sample Course Grading System

Each student receives grades for work assigned. The total mark is reported to the department and the office of the Registrar in percent. The components for the three main categories of work are combined as indicated below.

Passing grade is 50%

20% Laboratory Experiments (6), Problem Sets (20) and Project Reports (2)

30% Three Term Tests (one hour each, scheduled during class time)

50% Final Examination (three hour, scheduled and supervised by the registrar)

Note: the exam contains 5 questions, the content of the first three questions correspond to the content of each of the three term tests, the fourth is on any topic, and the fifth is on the laboratory. A formulae page is provided on the final exam but not on term tests.

Forgiveness Factor
If your score on any term test is less than your score on the corresponding question on the final exam, that term test mark is replaced by the exam question mark. (each test and each exam question is marked out of 100)
