the column I wrote between 1992 and 2002 for
IEEE's "the institute"
mailed to all members and published on the web on the first of each month
IEEE is the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - with
over 365 thousand members in over 150 countries - for more information, see www.ieee.org/about.
the links to my site are currently being added,
starting with the earliest columns, look for note in green below to see my
progress, the "date" links above this note are not yet done...
when complete, these green notes will disappear
Since Jan 1995, these articles are available on the Web, stored at the
IEEE Web site. Due to viewing problems following various upgrades to IEEE
servers, and given the date of original publication, links to each article
on the author's web site are provided below:

The early articles, from November/December 1992 to December 1994, were
written before the Web version of THE INSTITUTE. They are provided as a partial
record of how IEEE electronic communications services have developed.
These are the author's personal files which may not reflect the final
editing provided by the editorial staff of THE INSTITUTE. Some of the
services or other details may be no longer relevant since this is a
rapidly evolving field. For example - listproc was replaced by majordomo
some time after the May/June 1994 article was prepared.
